Gregory Cornelius is a co-founder and President of American Financial Management. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Kansas State University in 1978. In 1981 he received his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Kansas. Additionally, he has completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ program of study and earned the CFP® certification. Greg has 30 years of financial planning experience which includes time spent as Bank Examiner for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, five years in investment banking as an individual and institutional stockbroker, 13 years as a financial planner for MetLife, and the last 9 years as a partner in American Financial Management.
Greg holds his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) Certification. The CFP® certification process, administered by CFP® Board, identifies to the public that those individuals who have been authorized to use the CFP® certification marks in the U.S. have met rigorous professional standards and have agreed to adhere to the principles of integrity, objectivity, competence, fairness, confidentiality, professionalism and diligence when dealing with clients.
CFP® candidates must pass the comprehensive CFP® Certification Examination which test on the Fundamentals of Financial Planning, Insurance Planning, Investments ,Income Tax Planning, Retirement Planning and Estate Planning. Pass the CFP® Board’s Candidate Fitness Standards, agree to abide by CFP® Board’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility which puts clients’ interests first and comply with the Financial Planning Practice Standards.
Continued use of the CFP® marks is subject to ongoing renewal requirements. Every two years individuals must renew their right to continue using the CFP® designation by completing 30 hours of continuing education and reaffirming to abide by the Standards of Professional Conduct, Terms and Conditions.
